Slocum Residence
The transitional character of this residence reflects a shift in our clients’ lives when we approached the project. Working in close collaboration with the clients, whose vision was central to every decision, we transformed Slocum into a calm, cohesive retreat designed around the desire to move away from the busyness of their schedules to more comfort and ease.
The existing residence brought together competing woods, saturated greens, purple upholstery, and contrasting accents. Our design strategy was centered on eliminating the material friction and establishing a continuous palette that allows the architecture, furnishings, and individual details to speak together. An array of custom and bespoke pieces brings depth and individuality while remaining in conversation with the residence’s otherwise resolutely transitional character. Tucked away on the third floor, the merlot room introduces a more intimate and unexpected moment.
